History

In 1994 we began as the first true school independent hip-hop label out of Chicago. We made history via the late great DJ, Pink House who first aired our test pressed 12” vinyl record by ‘Fully G.’ called “There She Goes Again”. That record went on to become a local hit and was very influential in giving a city that at that time had been given no credit or respect from the Hip-Hop powers that be in NY & LA a glimmer of hope via the ‘do it yourself’ attitude of the labels CEO Carl “Boo” Harris.

Our contemporaries were E-40’s Sic-Wid-It Records and Master P’s No Limit Records. The latter mentioned labels went on to achieve huge national success in the independent market place while our fledging label stalled due to lack of a supportive home base infrastructure and changing tastes in the market place in the early 90’s. Nevertheless, we maintained and while we never achieved huge commercial success at that time in the U.S. we maintained an unforgiving commitment to what New Yorkers, Rawkus Records and the rest of the world would soon dub ‘Back Packer’ music (music heavily dependent on sample driven tracks that critics labeled as “underground hip-hop”). We achieved critical and commercial acclaim stateside and abroad in the late 90’s and early 2000’s as the “back pack” era reemerged due to a creative slide by most major labels and artists.

In addition to Fully G, the label has been propelled over the last few years by underground classic releases featuring Wayne Live, Nova Cain, Infinite I.N.C., Dimond Kut, 5th Element, and Groovy B. via our marketing and distribution deals with Land Speed/Koch & EMI/Carloline.

Present

Our current label roster of artist is in development as the climate of the industry has recently changed again and the label is directing its energy towards consumers that have embraced listening to music with a more universal appeal. Our goal to supply the world with great music that has enormous cultural as well as commercial appeal has once again become our main focus. As you read this we are currently cultivating tomorrow’s star talent and pairing them with our many great producers & production affiliates.
